Adjacent to La-Quardia Airport the Port
Authority is building a new ferry terminal and water quality monitoring
station. They will share the same docking access and other functions along
with economy of waterfront space utilization. The programs are intended
to overlap and interwoven just as the building will engage and overlap
with the natural and structured contexts.
On the bridge connecting Marine Air Terminal
with a new building, there are various eyes toward nature. Toward water,
land, sky, edge....
The edge in our site has the strong sense
of straight line. As breaking down this sense of edge dividing land and
water, this new building can emerge toward the water. So we can breath
through this gap arising from broken edge.
The previous porch as a transition space
is developed to a bridge coming from between two strong solid layers.
